GM – Inverter Electronics Intern

Job Description and Responsibilities:

The Inverter Electronics Intern will support design, development, analysis, and testing activities of General Motors Traction Inverter applications.  This role is growing in response to the dramatic growth of battery electric and hybrid vehicle markets as well as GM’s expanding Electrification portfolio. In this role you must have a passion for electrification and a desire to become an integral part of our exciting new corporate vision: Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion. Design goals for the Inverter Electronics Intern include:

  • Circuit design and analysis skills for embedded applications
  • Gate Drive circuit design and analysis skills for Si and SiC power modules
  • Power Module analysis and testing activities
  • Maximize hardware capability
  • Minimize inverter losses
  • Develop testing to aid in design development and failure root cause activities
  • Support benchmarking activities
  • Support review and approval of supplier’s worst-case analysis materials

Requirements:

  • Must be a Student studying Electrical Engineering or a related field with focus in power electronics design and analysis
  • Demonstrated research and coursework in Power Electronics or closely related field
  • Proficient with MATLAB/Simulink for modeling and simulation of circuit designs
  • Ability to follow algorithms coded in the C programming language
  • Ability to create and present information to peers and leadership in a clear and concise manner
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
