The Development Engineer is crucial to the success of our business as they are a key technical link between our customers and engineering organizations throughout the entire product life cycle

As a Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to do the following:

  • Lead new product introductions from conception to launch
  • Partner with various clients and reputable automakers to impact our clients as an integral part of bringing new automotive technologies to their prized products – products you and those in your sphere of influence use and depend on every day.
  • Lead new product introductions from initial customer request to production launch to successfully integrate our technologies with support from our global Platform/Product engineering teams
  • Ensure robust product implementation in the customer vehicle through direct customer engagement
  • Coordinate activities with design (2D/3D), simulation (Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), manufacturing, and suppliers to create production viable components
  • Define FMEA and execute DVP&R by preparing prototype hardware, testing, analysis, and summary
  • Support development of process documents (manufacturing, lab, design) as needed to ensure lessons learned are captured
  • Drive field or launch issue resolution process using root cause analysis tools, document it by appropriate way (8D, 5WHY, Ishikawa, Knowledge Card, etc.)
  • Generate VE ideas contributing to cost reduction of the product in terms of design, materials and processes
  • Persist on compliance with budget and resources allocated via AOP process
  • Initiate and execute benchmarking activity related to his component & discipline
  • Report back through the GBE and the Domains any major gaps in simulation tools, knowledge gaps and product gaps to meet new performance, reliability and cost targets for future development

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or other related engineering discipline
  • 6+ years of experience with developing and/or launching products in the automotive or similar industry
  • 10% travel to manufacturing and/or customer sites

Preferred Experience or Capabilities:

  • Experience with electric vehicle powertrain
  • Experience with high speed automotive/aerospace transmission/gearbox development
  • Experience in turbomachinery, mechanical design or testing
  • Experience in high speed electric motors and hydrodynamic bearings
  • Experience with casting, machining, and assembly of hardware
  • Experience with FEA and/or CFD simulation tools
  • Experience with 3D design tools
  • Six Sigma GB certification
  • Eager to learn and acquire new skills, new capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills for internal and external communication
