What you will be able to do
As a member of the Motor Design Team in the Electrified Powertrain Engineering division of Ford Motor Company, you will be part of a highly skilled team driven to design and engineer optimal electric machines for Ford’s electrified vehicles. You will be involved in the product development from the ground up until vehicle implementation and have the opportunity to be involved in the design, analysis, and validation of Ford’s electric machines. You will:
+ Develop and deliver outstanding electric machines designs for Ford’s electrified vehicles
+ Perform electromagnetic CAE analysis and deliver predicted performance for electrified vehicle traction motors
+ Develop state-of-the-art CAE analysis methods to accurately predict electric machine performance
+ Develop sophisticated electric machine design algorithms to efficiently create new designs
+ Study, invent and implement new electric machine technology
+ Develop physical test methods and work with testing team to validate machine attributes via prototypes
+ Work with mechanical design engineers and guide CAD designers to develop 3D models and prints
+ Work with transmission design team to integrate machines into transmissions
The minimum requirements we seek
+ PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field of study
+ 3+ years of experience with electric machine/motor physics, modeling and technology (including during PhD studies)
+ 3+ years of experience in electromagnetic analysis with CAE tools (e.g. ANSYS/Maxwell, JMAG) (including during PhD studies)
+ 3+ years of experience designing electric machines/motors for inverter-driven applications (including during PhD studies)
Our preferred requirements
+ Experience with automotive electrified applications
+ Good understanding of electric machine manufacturing
+ Experience designing inverter-driven IPM electric machines
+ Proficient coding skills with preference for MATLAB experience
+ Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks
+ Good technical communication skills
