What you will be able to do

You will play a key role in the creation of best-in-class mobility concepts as you handle electric machine control/calibration algorithm design and software implementation. This will involve the characterization and calibration of electric machines, including calibration procedure development/verification as well as control algorithm and calibration development during dynamometer and vehicle testing. You will:

  • Lead the development of electric machine and power electronics algorithm improving fuel economy, driving performance and NVH reduction
  • Refine electric machine and power electronics control software tuning and the optimization for fuel economy
  • Create and support advanced data post-processing scripts, electric motor modeling and motor control requirements
  • Support hardware sensors, switching devices and passive components specification development
  • Develop MATLAB models for controls design and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
  • Specify design verification methods
  • Plan testing in electric motor dynamometer

The minimum requirements we seek

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 1+ year of experience with electric machine drive control systems

Our preferred requirements

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience with electric machine drive control systems
  • 2+ years of experience with Motor control or advanced training in electric machine drive or power electronics controls design or development calibration
  • Working knowledge of control system and software design, including C Programming language
  • Working knowledge of electric motor modeling and control algorithm, simulation tools including MATLAB/SIMULINK
  • Experience with electric motor dynamometers, ATI Vision and hybrid vehicle operation
  • Course or training experience in electric machine design and modeling, discrete-time digital control and power electronics control
